The Berlin Film Festival kicks off today and almost 50% of the jury are women.
The female jurors include: Tilda Swinton (Jury chair); Spanish director Isabel Coixet and famed restaurateur Alice Waters.
Some of the films on the docket at the festival this year are:
Cheri- Michelle Pfeiffer as a cast off courtesean based on the novel by Colette. Film also stars Kathy Bates and is directed by Stephen Frears.
Rage- Dame Judi Dench as a fashionista directed by Sally Potter.
London River- stars Brenda Blethyn as a mother whose child is missing after the 2005 bombing.
Little Soldier- looks at the homecoming of a female soldier (from Denmark)
An Education- the hit from Sundance.
Skirt Day- starring Isabelle Adjani as a French teacher struggling to maintain order in a classroom laden with issues of immigration and cultural differences.
