Sunshine Cleaning Cleans Up at the Box Office

in Box Office

sunshine-cleaning1Finally, some good news.  Sunshine Cleaning which opened on only 4 screens this weekend kicked ass at the box office.  Its $54,000 per screen average makes it the highest per screen gross of a limited or wide release film of the year.  Pretty damn cool.

The film did so well that it will now roll out into other locations across the country.

Looks for it to release wider in NY and LA and to open in San Diego; Phoenix; San Francisco; Seattle; Portland; Denver; Minneapolis; Chicago; Detroit; Washington, D.C; Boston; Philadelphia; Atlanta; Dallas; and Houston.  It will expand again on Friday, the 27th.

Anyone who went this weekend- good job.  Now let’s keep it up in the cities where it will be opening this weekend.

I saw it last night in L.A. at the Landmark

it was

AWESOME!!!!

The audience applauded at the end.

The only problem is that there were not more women in the credits – outside of the usual gender specific crew positions (Hair, m/u, wardrobe & assistants).

I will let you know when it comes to Columbus. I am doing some outreach for the film as of this week so I’ll know early next week where it will be rolling out next Friday.

Didn’t notice that there were not too many women crew members. Thanks for that update.

I saw it with my mom today. It was very good. I wish it hadn’t been advertised as a comedy, but I found it very moving.
