Hollywood Feminist of the Day: Amber Tamblyn

I’ve only seen one episode of The Unusuals and I’m hooked.  I love that The Unusuals while it is an ensemble, is fronted by a female actress- Amber Tamblyn.  To me it’s perfect casting because she’s not your “usual” type of TV actress.  Tamblyn was in Joan of Arcadia and was the soul of both Sisterhood of Traveling Pants films.  She seems to me to be an old soul in a young woman’s body.

This young woman who has not been to college (yet, I bet) but comes off as truly grounded, and smart.  She’s published a book of poetry, is producing a documentary about spoken-word poetry events, campaigned for Hillary Clinton and is a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood.

Here’s what she said to NY Magazine about aging and surgery:

“All I can say is what I don’t want. I don’t want to ever have to have surgery; I’d like to remind people what a hot silver fox looks like. I don’t want to be the sexual role model…”

I love this young woman!  Everyone needs to tune in to the Unusuals on Wednesday night at 10pm on ABC.
