Italy Breaks a Glass Ceiling

xiang1Milan’s Orchestra Sinfonica ‘Giuseppe Verdi’ has chosen Chinese Xian Zhang as its music director making her the first female principal conductor in Italy.

Zhang who has a two month old daughter recently completed a contract with the NY Philharmonic.

She will make her first apprearance in Italy on April 30th at a concert for the Pope.
