Last night at The White House Project Epic — Enhancing Perceptions in Culture– Awards (an organization near and dear to my heart since I helped start it over a decade ago), they gave out a bunch of awards to people who are helping to push women’s leadership forward using culture — like TV and films.

Meryl Streep introduced the film Yes Madam, Sir directed by Megan Doneman about Kiran Bedi who was the first female police officer in India.

As she introduced Kiran and the clip she said:

There are women in the world who are willing to stand up… You are changing the world one woman at a time.

The film is narrated by Helen Mirren. They are still looking for distribution.

More info: Yes Madam, Sir

PS- Having now seen Meryl Streep in person I can attest that this is as real as one would have hoped, engaging and oh so beautiful.

That looks like such an amazing film. Hope it’s gets distribution so there’s a way that I can see it. Kiran Bedi seems like such a brave person.
