Looks like we’re going to be talking about girl assassins for a while longer. While we can probably agree that Saoirse Ronan won’t be uttering the c-word in her new film Hanna (but then again, who knows) we do know that she will be kicking a little butt.
Saoirse — 16 — plays an ruthless assassin trained by her CIA agent dad played by Eric Bana. The film also stars Cate Blanchett as an operative and is directed by Joe Wright (Atonement.)

Living a life unlike any other teenager, her upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own (Blanchett). As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity.
The film will be released by Focus Features. Are teenage girls kicking butt a new trend? To me, it’s a better trend than more wedding movies. Give me a butt kicking girl over a wedding anyday.

My kind of film, YAYE!
This sounds REALLY interesting! What I missed seeing in Hit Girl was her personal feelings about her training and function, but with this character being 16 I expect this to be much more of a coming-of-age story.
