Marcia Milgrom Dodge: A Director’s Story

by Melissa Silverstein on June 21, 2010

in Theatre

Marcia Milgrom Dodge has been working as a theatre director for 30 years. This past year she made it to Broadway for the first time with the critically-lauded production of Ragtime.

The show did not make it, but Milgrom Dodge and the production received multiple Tony nominations.

In this interview with PBS’ Need to Know, Milgrom Dodge talks about making a career as a working director around the country.

Here’s to hoping it doesn’t take another 30 years for her to make it back to Broadway.

Glad they recognized your genius. I know you’ll be back on broadway in the not too distant future. What an awesome experience this must have been for you. Hey! That may just be the story line you are looking for. Now for the rest of the story. Theater is truly about personal growth and evolution of character. Characters we can relate to, trials and tribulations that we can identify with. But then my interpretation is only a sliver of what your theater experience and conceptulazation of good theater must be. What an enviable life of adventure and doing what you love.
we are proud to be your cousins and very proud of all your achievements. I’m sure Aunt Polly must be beaming rays of pride in your direction. I still have the little bells from her memorial tea and ring them periodically when I pass by her smiling photo. What a wonderful sparkling person she was, much like you.

Take care. Hugs to all. (hope my rambling has not been too painful). Thrilled you are being recognized by your peers.

Good luck and
