Here’s what I’m going to be thinking about as an antithesis to Boardwalk Empire.
Kate Winslet takes over the tube. CANNOT WAIT. Only problem – Kate plays mom to Evan Rachel Wood and she’s only 12 years older than her. Give me a break.

Speaking of actresses and ridiculous age issues, this reminds me of an article I read (maybe posted here?) where Hope Davis said she was offered a role playing Johnny Depp’s mother, and she’s like 2 years younger than him!! Working in talent representation, it’s frustrating to me to see how easy it is for male actors to age in this business and how difficult it is for women.
Normally, I’d be upset by the small age difference between Winslet and Wood, but honestly, they’re both too good for me to care. Kate Winslet have been a favorite of mine since the mid 90′s and I think Evan Rachel Wood is one of the most gifted young actresses out there. I’m thrilled that they are doing this toghether. The source material is excellent, and Todd Haynes is directing. I’m to busy squeeing to disaprove. :)
To be fair, Sean Connery is twelve years older than Harrison Ford, yet they convincingly played father/son in the third Indiana Jones picture. Toss in Melissa Leo (it’s about time Kay Howard became a bankable character actress), and I’m officially interested.
