Trailer Watch: Amy Schumer Answers “What’s Your Number?” in New ‘Trainwreck’ Spot

In less than a month, Amy Schumer’s “Trainwreck” will make its long-awaited debut in theaters. Now an extended TV spot for the raunchy rom com has arrived with some new footage to help tide us over.

The first trailer for the Judd Apatow-directed and Schumer-written flick went back to Amy’s childhood to portray the root of Amy’s problem, when her father forces Amy and her sister to repeat the mantra “Monogamy isn’t realistic.” Fast-forward to the present, 23 years later, and Amy is “a modern chick who does what she wants” — and who she wants, which translates into casual hookups with beefcakes and a whole lotta binge-drinking.

Amy’s world is turned upside down when she’s assigned to write a profile on a doctor, Aaron (Bill Hader), and ends up having sex with him. What makes this hookup different is that she actually spends the night with him instead of bowing out early, then receives a call from him the next day — prompting Amy to amusingly assume that he butt-dialed her and her friend to conclude that he’s “sick or something.”

The new scenes include Schumer doing some physical comedy. When asked to “walk normal” on a treadmill by Aaron, Amy moves in a hilariously unnatural manner. Her humor seems to be appreciated by the doctor, who immediately asks her out on a date. We’re also treated to witnessing Schumer figuring out how to use exercise equipment and nearly giving herself a head injury in the process.

The tense and dreaded “What’s your number?” conversation takes a comical turn when Aaron says, “I’ve slept with three women” and Amy answers, “Me too.”

We can’t wait for this “Trainwreck” to hit theaters July 17.
