About W&H

Women & Hollywood (W&H) is the place that focuses much needed attention about women’s issues and Hollywood.  W&H is actually bigger than just Hollywood and films.  It raises awareness about all issues related to women and popular culture.  It educates and informs.  It agitates.  It caueses trouble.  It strives for change.

Women are over 50% of the population and over 50% of the film ticket buyers, over half the TV watchers yet are not represented in equal numbers on screen or behind the scenes.

The site will exist until women are equal in all areas of entertainment.

Love your site… as a female filmmaker — what an incredible resource and amazing collection of essays and informative opinions. Would love to know if you’d post some information about “Elena Undone” — which we shot on a shoe-string budget…as its one thing to be woman filmmaker out there and another to be a lesbian filmmaker — a niche within a niche holds yet more scarcity issues especially when you’re working on a budget level that simply by its economics brings everything down to the lowest common denominator. And lesbians wonder why there aren’t more good lesbian films…we have to support ALL the women that work in this industry with grace and a spirit of allegiance/loyalty. Also an interesting tidbit: we have created the longest “on screen kiss in cinema history” and it’s made by two women no less! — Thanks again for your lovely website! Very Warmest,
Nicole
