Melissa Silverstein

Melissa Silverstein is the founder and publisher of Women and Hollywood. She is the Artistic Director and co-­founder of the Athena Film Festival — A Celebration of Women and Leadership ­­at Barnard College in NYC. The seventh annual festival will take place February 9-12, 2017.

Melissa was selected to be a film envoy for the American Film Showcase, the major film diplomacy program of the U.S. Department of State. And she recently published the first book from Women and Hollywood, “In Her Voice: Women Directors Talk Directing,” which is a compilation of over 40 interviews that have appeared on the site.

She has written for The Guardian, The Washington Post, NY Times, More Magazine and has been featured on CNN, the BBC as well as in Newsweek, Salon, Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, NY Times, and many other publications. She was a contributor to “The Tattooed Girl: The Enigma of Stieg Larsson and the Secrets Behind the Most Compelling Thriller of Our Time.”

Laura Berger

Laura Berger is an editor at Women and Hollywood. Her writing has appeared in Bitch Magazine, PopMatters, “Joss Whedon: The Complete Companion” (Titan Books) and “Looking for the Enemy: The Eternal Internal Gender Wars of Our Sisters” (Kendall Hunt Publishing).

Kate Muir 

Kate Muir is a screenwriter, novelist, and film critic. She worked until 2017 as Chief Film Critic of the Times, covering reviews and festivals for the newspaper. She also works to promote women and minority directors, as well as intelligent female-centric movies. She previously worked for the Times as an arts and magazine columnist, and was a foreign features writer in New York, Paris, and Washington.

Muir was born in Glasgow and studied law at university there, before completing a postgraduate journalism diploma at Cardiff University. She is the author of two non-fiction books, including a study of female soldiers, Arms and The Woman, and has written three novels: Suffragette City, Left Bank, and West Coast.
