Amy Schumer to Receive CinemaCon’s Breakthrough Performer Award

Amy Schumer, star and screenwriter of “Trainwreck,” has been selected as CinemaCon’s Breakthrough Performer of the Year.

Schumer is set to receive the award at Caesars Palace on April 23. Last year’s recipient was “Parks and Recreation” star Aubrey Plaza.

The titular star of Comedy Central’s “Inside Amy Schumer,” who also created, writes, and executive produces the sketch series, will host this year’s MTV Movie Awards on April 12.

“Trainwreck” premiered as a Work in Progress at SXSW on March 15 and has been very warmly received. The film will open in theatres July 17.
