Amy Schumer to Star in New Comedy from Producer Reese Witherspoon

Amy Schumer in “Trainwreck”: Universal Pictures

We have yet another Amy Schumer movie to look forward to. The Tracking Board is reporting that the comedian will topline a new comedy from Universal, “Who Invited Her?” The project will be produced by Reese Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea’s Type A Films, as well as Krasnoff Foster Productions.

Schumer will play a woman who participates in her best male friend’s bachelor party weekend extravaganza. As the title of the film suggests, she’s not totally welcome.

The Golden Globe-nominated “Trainwreck” star has a number of films in the works. She’ll appear in the PTSD drama “Thank You For Your Service” alongside Miles Teller (“Whiplash,” “Divergent”), and she’ll team up with Goldie Hawn for the aptly titled mother-daughter comedy “Mother/Daughter.” Earlier this year, Schumer finished writing a script with her sister, Kim Caramele, and Jennifer Lawrence. Schumer and Lawrence will star in the feature: the two will play sisters.

Universal was the studio behind “Trainwreck.” The 2015 comedy, Schumer’s first big-screen starring vehicle, grossed over $140 million on a budget of $35 million. Women accounted for 67% of ticket sales for the film’s opening weekend.

Season 4 of Schumer’s “Inside Amy Schumer” is currently airing on Comedy Central.
