Angelina Jolie and Angela Lansbury will be receiving awards at the Academy’s 5th Annual Governors Awards.

Lansbury will receive an Honorary award. The Honorary Award is given to honor those who have made exceptional
contributions to the state of film, lifetime achievements and service to
the Academy. She has received three Oscar nominations in her career–for her debut in Gaslight (1944), The Picture of Dorian Grey (1945) and her iconic performance in The Manchurian Candidate (1962). She’s a beloved film and television actress known for roles in Murder She Wrote and voice work in Beauty and the Beast.

Jolie will receive the the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. The award is given to individuals whose humanitarian work has brought credit to the industry. Jolie has worked on many humanitarian causes such as the Prevent Sexual Violence Initiative. She has worked on the Council on Foreign Relations and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Jolie was later appointed as the Special Envoy of High Commissioner Antonio Guterres in 2012 after working with them for 12 years. Many of Jolie’s films, including her directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey, tackle humanitarian issues. She won a best supporting Oscar for her role in Girl, Interrupted. Jolie is the youngest recipient of the award.

Steve Martin and Piero Tosi will also be receiving Honorary Awards. Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs commented on the Awards.

The Governors Awards pay tribute to individuals who’ve made indelible contributions in their respective fields. We couldn’t be more excited for this year’s
honorees and look forward to bringing their peers and colleagues together to celebrate their extraordinary achievements.

The non-televised awards will be held on November 16th in Los Angeles.
