New Line has just hired Beth McCarthy-Miller to direct the comedy, Mean Moms. Don’t worry, it’s not a sequel to 2004’s Mean Girls but both films are based on books by Rosalind Wiseman. This time around, it’s Wiseman’s Queen Bee Moms And King Pin Dads: Dealing With The Parents, Teachers, Coaches, and Counselors Who Can Make — or Break –Your Child’s Future that will be adapted.
The film will follow a happily married mother, who moves from a small town into the suburbs. She’ll have to suddenly deal with a world filled with cutthroat parenting. Maybe Tina Fey can play the mom this time instead of the teacher.
McCarthy-Miller worked on Saturday Night Live for years and has directed tons of television–from 30 Rock, The Mindy Project and much more. It’s about time this five-time Emmy nominated director is making her feature film debut. Jill Messick (who executive produced Mean Girls) will produce.
