Breaking Dawn Scores 5th Highest Opening Weekend Ever

Women dominated the box office this weekend. Breaking Dawn grossed $139.5 million here in the US and another $144 million overseas making it the 5th highest opening domestic weekend EVER. It was only a couple of million off the opening of New Moon which holds the 4th largest opening weekend. It’s great overseas number makes it number 10 on the list of opening weekends worlwide.

So tht means that two films fueled by women — women made up 80% of the audience this weekend and 60% were over 21 (according to box office mojo) — are in the top five opening weekends.

But of course women don’t go to the movies.
