Emma Watts has secured a three year contract to be the sole head of production at 20th Century Fox. She basically took over the job last month when Alex Young left, but no it’s more official since she now has a long term contract.
But remember having a woman in these top positions does not mean that we will see any more women on screen. In fact, Fox’s the list of upcoming films for next year is the typical boy fest aside from Date Night a comedy with Steve Carell and Tina Fey (yeah). (I really hope that it is not a typical Judd Apatow comedy cause I will weep large tears in Tina Fey is in one of them.) I could also be interested in Knight & Day starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz but I have no interest in The A-Team (never watched the show and will never see the film even with Bradley Cooper in it) and Jack Black in Gulliver’s Travels.
I wish Emma the best of luck in her gig and I hope that she makes a movie I am interested in so I can support her work.
