Connie Britton has booked her first post-“Nashville” gig. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that she’s signed on for a leading role in Nicole Holofcener’s upcoming Netflix ensemble dramedy, “The Land of Steady Habits.” Edie Falco (“Nurse Jackie”), Ben Mendelsohn (“Bloodline”), and Thomas Mann (“Fargo”) co-star. The project marks a reunion for Britton and Mann: She played his mother in 2015’s “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.”

Expected to begin shooting around New York in March, the film is based on Ted Thompson’s 2014 novel of the same name. The book follows a man in his fifties (Mendelsohn), who “just when he seems to have it all, implodes in the middle of affluent Connecticut life,” THR writes. “He leaves his wife, buys a condo, and waits for freedom. But when he realizes he made a gross error in judgment, he embarks on a clumsy journey to redeem his personal and professional missteps.”

Four-time Emmy nominee Britton will play a divorcee who forms a connection with Mendelsohn’s character after meeting him in a strip club.

Holofcener penned the script. The last film she directed, 2013’s “Enough Said,” marked her biggest commercial success to date. The romantic comedy starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus and James Gandolfini grossed over $25 million. Among her other credits are “Please Give,” “Friends with Money,” and “Walking and Talking.” She’s also directed episodes of series such as “One Mississippi,” “Orange Is the New Black,” and “Parks and Recreation.”

Britton’s character on “Nashville,” country singer Rayna James, (spoiler alert!) died on the most recent episode of the CMT series. She’ll appear in two more episodes in the show’s current season, its fifth, before leaving it behind. The “Friday Night Lights” and “American Horror Story” alumna’s film credits include “American Ultra,” “This Is Where I Leave You,” and “The To Do List.”
