I got the chance to see Zero Dark Thirty last week. It truly is a tremendous film. It's tense and unflinching. It's a balanced, straightforward look at the horrors of warfare without making judgments on either side. Jessica Chastain gives an amazing, intense and complex performance as Maya.
Kathryn Bigelow made a surprise appearance for a Q&A at the screening I attended. Listening to her speak about the filmmaking process crystallizes (if it wasn't already apparent) her as one of our greatest living directors – male or female.
