Focus Features Buys Pariah in Two Picture Deal With Dee Rees

Big news. A woman gets a seven figure deal.

Focus Features the the studio that released The Kids Are All Right to great box office and critical success including its multiple Oscar nominations this week bought the film according to Deadline. The deal is for Pariah and another film which Rees will write and hopefully direct.

Pariah is Pariah the coming of age and coming out story of a 17-year-old young woman from Brooklyn. From what I could tell from my vantage point back here in Brooklyn, the film played very well, and on twitter this morning it was noted that the last screening today is sold out.

Go Dee.
