Gotham Award Winners: The Women

The awards season began in earnest last evening with the IFP sponsored Gotham Awards.

Here are the female winners:

Breakthrough Director — Dee Rees — Pariah — hopefully this is the first of many awards for Dee this season. Pariah opens December 28.

Best Film Not Playing at a Theatre Near You — Scenes from a Crime — directed by Blue Hadaegh & Grover Babcock

Breakthrough Actor — Felicity Jones — Like Crazy

Best Documentary — Better This World — directed by Katie Galloway and Kelly Duane de la Vega (too bad it didn’t make the short list for the Academy Awards)

Charlize Theron also received a career tribute. Young Adult opens December 9.

Full list of winners. They streamed the ceremony last night. I watched some of it. If you are interested, here it is.
