Hunger Games Producer Nina Jacobson to Adapt Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch

Nina Jacobson, producer of The Hunger Games and Diary of a Wimpy Kid film series, has picked up another hit book — Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch.

Praised for its “Dickensian” scope, Tartt’s urban epic begins with a terrorist attack at New York’s Met Museum. Now orphaned, ten-year-old Theo struggles to fend for himself on the streets of Manhattan while maintaining a connection to his deceased mother through a 17th-century painting he stole from the Met during the attack.

The Goldfinch made The New York Times Book Review’s top ten books of 2013. It is also on the long list for the Bailey Women’s Prize.

Jacobson told The Wrap, “We are looking for the right filmmaker, and then we’ll choose the right home based on that filmmaker…. We’ve been thinking we are more likely to make a limited series for TV. There’s so much scope to the book. At the same time, a filmmaker could come in with a perspective that changes our mind.”

Hope that list of filmmakers include a few women.
