‘Inside Amy Schumer,’ ‘Broad City,’ ‘Being Mary Jane’ and More Women-Centric Shows Renewed

Being Mary JaneBreathe a sigh of relief: lots of your favorite women-centric shows are coming back.

Comedy Central has renewed "Inside Amy Schumer" for a fifth season, a seriously no-brainer decision considering the sketch series’ creator and star is now a bona fide movie star. A fourth season of "Inside Amy Schumer" was confirmed in April 2015 before Season 3 concluded in July.

The network has also renewed "Broad City" for two more seasons, ensuring that our favorite stoner duo, Abbi and Ilana, take viewers on many more hilarious misadventures involving pegging and nature’s pocket.

"Broad City" creator-writer-star Ilana Glazer has much to celebrate: Comedy Central also ordered "Time Traveling Bong," a three-episode series she created alongside fellow "Broad City" writers Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs. Glazer will star in the project, which, as the title suggests, involves toking and time traveling. Aniello is set to direct.

BET will bring back its highest-rated scripted show, "Being Mary Jane," for a fourth season. Showrunner and creator Mara Brock Akil left the series mid-Season 3 for a deal with Warner Bros. TV. No word on who will take the reins of the drama starring Gabrielle Union ("Think Like a Man Too") as a news anchor.

"Younger" Season 3 has been given the greenlight despite the fact that Season 2 hasn’t premiered yet. TV Land is showing a lot of confidence in the addictive comedy about a middle-aged woman (Sutton Foster, "Bunheads") posing as a younger woman.

And finally, we will be seeing more of Hannah Horvath and Co. struggling through adulthood — but the end of this arduous journey is now in sight. HBO renewed "Girls" for a sixth and final season. Season 5 premieres February 21. "I can’t imagine a more fulfilling creative experience than ‘Girls,’" said the show’s creator and star, Lena Dunham. She explained, "I conceived of ‘Girls’ when I was 23 and now I’m nearly 30 — the show has quite perfectly spanned my 20s, the period of time that it’s about — and so it feels like the right time to wrap our story up."
