Jennifer Garner-Led Drama Receives Straight-to-Series Order at Apple

Garner on "Conan"

“Camping” wrapped up less than two weeks ago and Jennifer Garner has already lined up another TV project. She will star in a limited drama series based on Amy Silverstein’s memoir “My Glory Was I Had Such Friends,” Deadline confirms. Hailing from Karen Croner and J.J. Abrams, “My Glory” nabbed a straight-to-series order at Apple “in a competitive situation.”

The show marks a double reunion for Garner: she starred in Abrams’ spy drama “Alias” from 2001-2006 and toplined feature “The Tribes of Palos Verdes,” which Croner wrote.

Published in 2017, “My Glory Was I Had Such Friends” is Silverstein’s account of her second heart transplant. “The story showcases the power of friendship and the resilience of the human spirit as it follows an extraordinary group of women who supported Silverstein” through the experience, the source details.

Croner is writing the TV adaptation and exec producing alongside Garner, Abrams, and Silverstein. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions is producing in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Garner most recently appeared as the type-A asshole Kathryn in Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner’s dark comedy, “Camping.” No word on whether the series will return for another season. She’s signed on to star in and produce Netflix’s “Yes Day,” which centers on a holiday during which parents agree to their kids’ every request.

Croner also wrote the screenplays for “Admission” and “One True Thing.” She penned the script for “Girl Soldier,” a film about the 1996 abduction of Ugandan school girls that’s currently in pre-production.

Apple also has a morning show-set drama with Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, a half-hour comedy about Emily Dickinson, and an Octavia Spencer-led true crime drama, in the works.
