Jennifer Lawrence Covers the September Issue of Vogue

null

Jennifer Lawrence covers Vogue’s coveted September issue (consisting of a backbreaking 665 pages). In a seven hour interview with Jonathan Van Meter, Lawrence spoke about The Hunger Games, X-Men, American Hustle and fame amongst other topics.

Here are some of the choice quotes from Lawrence’s Vogue interview. Read it in full here.

On her character in American Hustle:

Rosalyn is 100 percent a product of David’s imagination. She’s a manic-depressive alcoholic, and I couldn’t wait. Plus, I got to make out with Christian
Bale.

Working on American Hustle instead of taking a break:

I couldn’t say no. And then when I was on set, I was like, ‘This is so much more important than a vacation. It’s so much better for my brain to be
creatively stimulated in this way.’ It reminded me: This is what I love.

How her life feels like it has paralleled The Hunger Games:

When Winter’s Bone was getting nominated, I had only done indies, and suddenly I was introduced to this brand-new world where I didn’t feel like
myself. I was in these weird gowns and listening to people talk about things I didn’t understand. And I remember reading that in the book and being like,
Oh, my God, I know exactly what this feels like. I don’t know what it’s like to get ready for your death, but I do know what it’s like to be almost a
puppet. And then when I was making the second film, I had become more acquainted with that world, and I think that’s something that Katniss experiences.
She is different when she comes back. She does feel more comfortable in the Capitol; she understands the people more, and it’s not as eerie and scary and
unfamiliar. She kind of knows how to work the system.

On never thinking about acting as a career:

Look, I grew up in Kentucky, I have brothers, we had to do sports, I was a horrible student, and I kept getting grounded every time my report card came
out. Acting was never an option. It wasn’t like, ‘Oh, well, you got a C in math; you’re grounded. But you can be an actor!’

Lawrence can next be seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire out on November 22 and American Hustle in limited release on December 13th and wide on December 25th.
