Netflix Reboots Post-Divorce Family Sitcom ‘One Day At A Time’ With Rita Moreno-Led Latino Cast

Rita MorenoNetflix has given a 13-episode direct-to-series order to a reboot of Norman Lear’s "One Day at a Time," the classic sitcom that ran from 1975 to 1984. The new version will feature Rita Moreno and a predominantly Latino cast.

As with the original, the upcoming series will feature a divorced woman pursuing a career while raising two children and befriending a building manager (with whom she has a platonic relationship). Written by former "How I Met Your Mother" writer Gloria Calderon Kellett and "Everybody Loves Raymond" writer Mike Royce, the reboot will feature Moreno as a Cuban-American matriarch and the mother of the divorcee protagonist, who’s been reimagined as an ex-military mom.

Royce and Kellett will executive produce with Lear and others.
