Rashida Jones’ ‘Angie Tribeca’ Renewed Before Series Debut; Season 1 to Open With 25-Hour Marathon

Rashida Jones is getting a huge show of support from her new network.

Jones’ upcoming cop comedy, “Angie Tribeca,” has been renewed for a second season two months before its series premiere. Executive produced by Steve and Nancy Carell, the TBS show “follows a squad of LAPD detectives who investigate the most serious cases, from the murder of a ventriloquist to a rash of baker suicides,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. In this send-up of cop cliches, Jones will play the most familiar trope of all — the lone-wolf detective — but with a female twist.

Debuting January 17, “Angie Tribeca” will rush out the door with a 25-hour, commercial-free marathon of the first season’s 10 episodes (with the season repeating five times). The debut season will also become available on TBS’ VOD, digital and mobile platforms.

Season 2 will premiere just a week later, only January 25.
