Sundance Selects Acquires Nicole Garcia Period Drama Starring Marion Cotillard

Sundance Selects has acquired the U.S. rights to Nicole Garcia’s period drama “From the Land of the Moon.” Academy Award-winner Marion Cotillard stars in the film, which is based on Milena Agus’ best-selling novel of the same name.

Actress-turned-director Garcia co-wrote the script. Cotillard plays a free-spirited woman living in post-WWII Europe who finds herself in a painful love triangle.

Garcia’s previous directing credits include “Charlie Says” (2006) and “A View of Love” (2010). The former screened in competition at Cannes. In 2014, Garcia served as president of the Camera d’or Award jury at the festival. She received a Best Supporting Actress Cesar in 1980.

“In the Land of the Moon” is one of the 20 films by women we hope to see at Cannes this year.

Sundance Selects made the deal on the basis of promotional footage of “From the Land of the Moon” shown at the Berlinale last month.
