Women Directors

!Women Art Revolution directed by Lynn Hershman Leeson Opens in NYC Today

There are not many films that are able to show the development of a true revolution and Women Art Revolution is one of them. It shows how feminism affected women’s art and how art affected feminism. The art and the interviews that make up this extraordinary film are a history — or a herstory — of our time. Most of the women in the film you haven’t heard of, but their work has changed our culture and I thank them for it.

The film premiered last September in Toronto and then went to Sundance and now is getting a release here in NYC at the IFC Center. There are a whole host of guests that we be at the screenings this week. Here are the details.

Read my interview with director Lynn Hershman Leeson from when the film opened in Toronto.
