‘The Hunting Ground’ to Receive PGA’s Social Issues Award

"The Hunting Ground""The Hunting Ground," Kirby Dick’s harrowing exposé of campus sexual assault and rousing portrait of a group of young women battling rape-accepting university administrations across the country, will receive the Producers Guild of America’s 2016 Stanley Kramer Award.

The PGA’s Stanley Kramer Award is meant to spotlight a production or individual whose work "illuminates provocative social issues."

"This powerful documentary gives a voice to the victims of student sexual assault — a national problem too long clouded in secrecy and shielded from public attention," said PGA co-chairs Mike De Luca and Jennifer Todd. "The visceral reaction this film evokes has mobilized audiences worldwide to take action, and has served as a focal point in campus discussions and in revising institutional policies."

Previous awardees include "The Normal Heart," "Fruitvale Station," "Precious" and "Hotel Rwanda."

The 27th annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony will take place on January 23.
