Trailer Watch: A Female Friendship Shatters Apart and Destroys Everything Around It in ‘Breathe’

As much as we love movies about female friendships, let’s get real — sometimes they fall apart, especially when teenagers are involved.

In “Breathe,” French actress Melanie Laurent’s enthusiastically reviewed second time behind the camera, the nascent friendship between small-town high-schooler Charlie (Josephine Japy) and new girl Sarah (Lou De Laage) quickly devolves into panic attack-inducing destruction. This new trailer doesn’t reveal how the two teens fell out or what one of them is doing to torment the other, but the video is a visceral ride that captures all too well the pained claustrophobia one can feel when forced to confront a former friend on a near-daily basis.

“Breathe” will be released on September 11.
