Vamps, Vixens and Feminists is Friday in Leeds!

No don’t worry if you don’t live anywhere near Leeds. This year the event which tackles issues related to gender disparity in performing arts will be online. You can watch it here. The event which is sponsored by the Sphinx Theatre Company takes place this coming Friday and starts at 10:30 (England time). I hope they archive it for those of us who won’t be able to watch it live.

Here’s the description:

Sphinx Theatre Company presents the fourth Vamps, Vixens and Feminists conference, examining the role of women in the performing arts.

The first, at the Olivier Theatre at the National in 2009, was a huge success and gained a high profile for these discussions but this is their first visit north of the Wash. This time Sphinx are focusing on writers for stage and screen, and speakers include Sally Wainwright, the writer of the ITV programmes Unforgiven and Scott & Bailey; playwright Penelope Skinner (Eigengrau, The Village Bike) and Chris Campbell, Literary Manager of the Royal Court Theatre, who will be speaking and leading breakout sessions with established and emerging writers. Other speakers include Ian Brown, Beatrix Campbell OBE, Professor Mary Luckhurst, Bidisha, Justine Potter, Dawn Walton and Erica Whyman.

The day-long conference will include debate, workshops and networking opportunities for everyone working in and, or, interested in women’s roles in the performing arts.

Is there anyone out there who is going to attend the event and wants to cover it for the site?
