Watch This: BBC’s Up The Women – Written by and Starring Jessica Hynes

nullPremiering tonight on BBC Four is Jessica Hynes’s (star/co-writer of the cult hit Spaced) Up The Women–a sitcom set in 1910 about suffragettes.

Up The Women is BBC Four’s first studio sitcom, filmed in front of a live audience. Margaret (Hynes) has just gone to London and discovered the suffrage movement. Inspired by the movement, she returns to her Banbury crafting circle to report back and suggests that they start their own suffragette group. Soon enough, their craft group has rebranded themselves to “Banbury
Intricate Craft Circle politely request women’s suffrage.”

As of now, there isn’t a release date for the U.S. but we would love to hear from our U.K. readers about the show.
