Trailer Watch: Love Keeps the Darkness at Bay in Alison Eastwood’s ‘Battlecreek’

A trailer has been released for Alison Eastwood’s follow-up to 2007’s “Rails & Ties,” “Battlecreek.”

Set in the small town of Battlecreek, the romantic drama is centered on Henry (Bill Skarsgård, “Hemlock Grove”) who has “some kind of skin disease” that prohibits him from exposing his flesh to sunlight.

Henry’s tarot-reading mom (Paula Malcomson, “The Hunger Games”) predicts a new life cycle for Henry — one influenced by a woman. Alison, a mysterious newcomer from out of town (Claire van der Boom, “Hawaii Five-0”) who crashes her car and moves to Battlecreek, fits the bill to a tee.

The clip suggests that Alison is also living with a lot of darkness — the kind brought on by an abusive ex. “Not everything in this world is good, Henry,” she confides to her new love.

“Battlecreek,” written by Anthea Anka, premieres at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on February 6.
