Samantha Bee is launching a new production company. The Emmy winner’s Swimsuit Competition will create original narrative and documentary television “that it finds amusing and would definitely spend a weekend bingeing. They will be seeking great ideas from people flying under the radar, or whose work has been underestimated in the past,” a press release announced, suggesting that the company will value inclusivity behind the scenes and on-screen.
“Swimsuit Competition is so open-minded that they’ll even consider working with men,” the release jokes.
“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” producer Kristen Everman has been named Head of Development at Swimsuit Competition, which has signed a first-look deal with TBS.
Swimsuit has plans to expand, presumably into film.
“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” is currently in its third season on TBS. Bee won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special in 2017. The “Daily Show” alumna is the co-creator of “The Detour,” a comedy series about a family trip that’s been renewed for a fourth season on TBS.
