Trailer Watch: Sharon & Rob Deal with Death, AA, and Illness in “Catastrophe’s” Final Season

"Catastrophe"

Season 3 of “Catastrophe” ended on quite the dark note. Sharon (Sharon Horgan) discovered her alcoholic husband, Rob (Rob Delaney), had been drinking again when he got into a car accident and confessed he couldn’t pass a breathalyzer. Their marriage has definitely hit a rough patch, but as the new trailer for “Catastrophe’s” fourth and final season confirms, Sharon and Rob’s shared sick sense of humor is stronger than ever.

Sharon tries to make evening plans with her husband in the spot, but he tells her he has an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. “Again?” Sharon asks. “Well, I mean, you don’t really graduate from alcoholism,” Rob points out. But Sharon has other concerns. “So I’m supposed to watch ‘Game of Thrones’ on my own?” she asks. “Like a pervert?”

AA and its TV conflicts are far from the couple’s only problems in Season 4. Rob’s mother passes away and Sharon learns she has high cholesterol. Not to mention Rob has to impress the head of his shady company if he wants to keep his job.

“Should I be chatty like Michelle Obama?” Sharon wonders when Rob tells her they’re going to dinner with his boss. “Or should I be more like Jackie Kennedy, you know, like, don’t say much but when I do say something, really make it count? Like slag off the Queen?” “I think I’m gonna say you can’t make it,” Rob decides.

Horgan and Delaney received an Emmy nomination for writing “Catastrophe.” They duo also created the series and serve as exec producers.

Carrie Fisher, who played Rob’s mother, Mia, in Seasons 1-3, received a posthumous Emmy nod for her performance in 2017.

“Catastrophe’s” final season drops on Amazon Prime March 15. Michaela Watkins (“Casual”), Chris Noth (“The Good Wife”), and David Alan Grier (“The Carmichael Show”) are among Season 4’s guest stars.
