More stars from “The Help” are reuniting. Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer have a holiday comedy in the works, and now comes word that Allison Janney is joining the cast of “Troupe Zero,” an Amazon Studios feature that Viola Davis is already signed on to. Deadline broke the news about Janney’s casting.
Directed by female directing duo Bert & Bertie (“Dance Team”), the plot for “Troupe Zero” is being kept under wraps. “Beasts of the Southern Wild” co-writer Lucy Alibar penned the script.
“Troupe Zero” marks Janney’s first big screen role since her Oscar-winning turn as Tonya Harding’s mother in “I, Tonya.” She’ll be re-teaming with Mckenna Grace, who played a young version of Tonya, on this new project.
Janney is a seven-time Emmy winner. She won trophies for her roles in “The West Wing,” “Masters of Sex,” and “Mom.” The latter is currently in its fifth season on CBS and has been renewed for a sixth.
Released in 2011, “The Help” is set in the 1960s and centers on an aspiring author (Emma Stone) who is writing a book about the experiences of black maids working for white families.
