Amy Adams will follow up her Emmy-nominated role as a crime reporter searching for answers in “Sharp Objects” with another portrayal of a woman trying to find justice. The six-time Oscar nominee has signed on to exec produce and star in “Kings of America,” a limited Netflix series inspired by the biggest class action lawsuit in U.S. history.
Created by journalist and author Jess Kimball Leslie, the drama “tells the stories of three powerful women whose lives were inextricably intertwined with the world’s largest company: a Walmart heiress, a maverick executive, and a longtime Walmart saleswoman and preacher who dared to fight against the retail giant,” Deadline details.
Diana Son (“13 Reasons Why”) will serve as showrunner on “Kings of America.”
Adams has received Oscar nods for “Vice,” “American Hustle,” “The Master,” “The Fighter,” “Doubt,” and “Junebug.” Her upcoming film projects include “The Woman in the Window,” a thriller about an agoraphobic woman who witnesses a crime, and “Enchanted” sequel “Disenchanted.”
In 2019 Adams signed a first-look deal with HBO. She’s teaming up with “Big Little Lies” Emmy winner Laura Dern to exec produce an adaptation of Claire Lombardo’s “The Most Fun We Ever Had,” a multi-generational story about four sisters, for the premium cable network.
