Amy Poehler will star as a rising basketball coach asked to lead an NBA team in an untitled comedy from Universal.
Poehler will also produce the film.
The comedienne’s character has a real-life counterpart in former WNBA player Becky Hammon, who made history by becoming the NBA’s first female assistant coach (for the San Antonio Spurs).
(Fun fact: Poehler wrote the “Telethon” episode of “Parks and Recreation,” in which Indiana Pacer Detlef Schremp appears.)
Poehler can currently be heard in “Inside Out” and will next appear alongside Tina Fey in “Sisters,” out Christmas Day. She’s collaborating with Will Ferrell on another comedy called “The House.”
