Listen up, UK-based female distribution executives: Birds Eye View wants to support you in breaking through the glass ceiling of the distribution sector. ScreenDaily reports that the gender equality agency has launched the third round of Future Leaders in Distribution, an initiative offering eight to 10 female UK distribution executives with seven or more years of experience a program involving workshops, panels, mentoring, business coaching, and more. Designed to fit into a full-time work schedule, this round of the initiative will run from November 2018 to March 2019. The deadline to apply is November 14.
Future Leaders in Distribution aims to push the needle above the 30 percent mark for female representation within management in film distribution.
Course leader and Birds Eye View director-at-large Mia Bays is an Oscar-winning producer who recently co-exec produced Sabine Krayenbühl and Zeva Oelbaum’s Gertrude Bell documentary, “Letters from Baghdad.” Previous participants of the program include Studiocanal UK’s head of theatrical marketing Christina De Rienzo and Pathé UK’s head of publicity Sophie Glover.
Birds Eye View’s diversity targets for the program are to achieve 100 percent female participants, at least 40 percent Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic participants, and at least 10 percent of those who consider themselves disabled.
