If you’re a woman, person of color, or non-binary individual looking to take the next step in your directing career, this is for you. Submissions are now open for NBC’s Female Forward and the Emerging Director Programs. Designed for woman-identifying directors, Female Forward aims to close the gender gap in TV directing. The Emerging Director initiative elevates ethnically diverse male directors as well as non-binary folks.
Program participants will shadow on a scripted NBC show and direct at least one episode of said series.
Submissions for both programs will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. PT on November 3. Finalists will be notified in April.
Applicants must have previous directing experience — but no more than one scripted TV credit — in order to be eligible for Female Forward or Emerging Director.
Submissions must include a letter of recommendation (not from a talent rep); a résumé detailing previous directing jobs; a bio; a reel; up to three work samples; and responses to two essay questions.
Kris Lefcoe (“Superstore”), Brenna Malloy (“Chicago Fire”), SJ Main Muñoz (“Chicago Med”), Kim Nguyen (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), and Sara Zandieh (“Good Girls”) comprised Female Forward’s Class of 2019.
