Sitcom scribes Megan Amram and Lisa McQuillan are making the move to the big screen. “The Good Place,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “Silicon Valley” are among the former’s credits, and the latter’s include “Broad City,” “Grown-ish,” and “Black-ish.” Both writers have projects in the works with J.J. Abram’s Bad Robot Productions, Slash Films reports. The company has announced a number of new films in development, including titles penned by Amram and McQuillan.
Currently untitled, Amram’s script is described as a “female-driven horror allegory.” Amram is set to write the project, and no director is attached yet. Amram received an Emmy nod this year for creating the web series “An Emmy For Megan.”
McQuillan’s “Everything Must Go” is being likened to “‘Clerks’ for a new generation.”
Also in the pipeline at Bad Robot is “The Steps,” a twist on typical possession stories penned by “Polaroid” screenwriter Blair Butler.
No word on who will direct those projects.
“The Hateful Eight” costume designer Courtney Hoffman will helm “The Seven Sisters of Scott Country” for Bad Robot, which she’s also penning the script for. The story centers on “moonshine, trucking, and sisterhood.” Hoffman previously wrote and directed the short “The Good Time Girls.”
