Jessica Knoll’s novel “The Favorite Sister” is getting a television adaptation. “Big Littles Lies” producer Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories obtained the rights to the best-seller with the plans to give it the small screen treatment. Deadline broke the story.

Published in May, “The Favorite Sister” centers on two sisters “whose lifelong sibling rivalry explodes in the crucible of a reality TV show, leaving one of them murdered.” The source describes the book as “a sharp social commentary on women, ambition, and the bonds of sisterhood.”

Knoll will write the pilot and produce alongside Papandrea.

Papandrea is also producing a film adaptation of Knoll’s “Luckiest Girl Alive,” a thriller about an assault survivor, her past, and her determination to have a picture-perfect life. Knoll is set to pen the script.

“I am thrilled to be re-teaming with Jessica on her razor-sharp and wildly entertaining second novel,” Papandrea stated. “I deeply admire her boldness of vision and her eagerness to challenge the status quo of how women are allowed to behave in their own stories. I am so excited to shepherd these wildly complex female characters to the screen.”

Knoll added, “I strive to create characters as fierce and powerful as Bruna, and it is an honor to work with her again.”

Among the projects on Papandrea’s jam-packed slate are TNT drama “Tell Me Your Secrets” (formerly “Deadlier Than the Male”), the Catherine Zeta-Jones-starring beauty pageant comedy series “Queen America,”  and female astronaut drama “Pale Blue Dot.”

The prolific producer’s other credits include Jennifer Kent’s revenge drama “The Nightingale,” currently in post-production, “Gone Girl,” and “Wild.”
