Cate Blanchett to Make Directorial Debut with The Dinner

null

Cate Blanchett is set to make her directorial debut with an adaptation of Herman Koch’s The Dinner

Oren Moverman will be writing the script which is a psychological thriller about two families whose 15 year old sons have committed a horrible act together and shows just how far some parents will go to protect their families.

While it’s Blanchett’s feature debut directing, she’s been honing her skills on the stage. For the past five years, Blanchett has been the co-artistic director alongside her husband, Andrew Upton, for the Sydney Theatre Company. She’s directed David Harrower’s Blackbird and Joan Didion’s The Year of Magical Thinking.

Blanchett is considered a front runner in this year’s Oscars race for her role in Blue Jasmine. Her upcoming projects include an adaptation of Cinderella, Todd Haynes’ Carol and the Julie Delpy penned Cancer Vixen for HBO.

It is not yet known if Blanchett will also star in The Dinner.
