Exactly zero of CBS’ new fall series center on female protagonists, a fact that has drawn a great deal of (totally warranted) criticism of the network. Hopefully next season’s programming won’t have the same problem. Variety reports that the home of “The Big Bang Theory” has a new female-led comedy series in development from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “Arrested Development” alumna Lisa Parsons.
Based on the South Korean series “Emergency Couple,” “Love/Sick” follows “a young female doctor who is put in charge of a new group of medical interns, only to discover that one of them is her ex-boyfriend,” the source writes.
Parsons will pen the script and is among the project’s executive producers.
“Emergency Couple” aired on Korean cable channel TvN in 2014.
Word recently came that “Madam Secretary” creator Barbara Hall also has a series in development at CBS. The CIA drama centers on three adult siblings working in the intelligence community.
