“Set It Up” helmer and prolific TV director Claire Scanlon has booked her latest gig. As Deadline reports, she will direct the Fox single-camera comedy pilot “Adam & Eve,” which tells the story of a couple at three different points in their decades-long relationship. “Supergirl’s” Odette Annable has signed on to play Eve.
Based on the French-Canadian series “Adam & Ève,” the series will depict the titular couple at the beginning of their relationship, when they’re middle-aged parents, and as they’re preparing for retirement. “It’s a comedy about the big questions,” the source details. “What makes a marriage last? Do people ever really change? And, after 40 years together, why can’t we pick a place for dinner without it turning into a whole, you know, ‘thing?'”
Scanlon made her feature directorial debut with last summer’s rom-com “Set It Up.” The Netflix hit sees two overworked assistants plotting to get their demanding bosses together. Scanlon also directed the pilot for the upcoming Lifetime series “American Princess,” about a recently-dumped socialite who joins the Renaissance Fair. “GLOW,” “Black-ish,” and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” are among her many other TV credits. She won an Emmy for editing the final episode of “The Office.”
Annable portrayed Samantha Arias/Reign on “Supergirl’s” third season. Her more recent credits include “The Grinder,” “The Astronaut Wives Club,” and “Banshee.”
