Netflix continues to dominate with its original content production. The streaming giant has added “Ginny & Georgia,” a mother-daughter drama showrun by Debra J. Fisher and written by first-time creator Sarah Lampert. Deadline reports that the 10-episode series will debut in 2020.
“Ginny & Georgia” sees 15-year-old Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and her mother, Georgia (Brianne Howey), attempting to put down roots after years on the run. On top of high school and the usual teenage complications, Ginny must also juggle her mother, who’s seemingly the more immature of the two. Eventually, Georgia’s past comes back to haunt them and threatens their newfound normal.
Howey’s previous credits include “The Exorcist” series, “The Passage,” and Maya Erskine-starrer “Plus One.” “Schitt’s Creek’s” Jennifer Robertson, Sara Waisglass, Scott Porter, and Raymond Ablack round out the cast.
This project marks Fisher’s first time as showrunner. She previously wrote for “Alias” and “Being Mary Jane” and has produced episodes of “Charmed,” “Criminal Minds,” and “Take Two.” She serves as exec producer alongside Lampert, Jenny Daly, Holly Hinds, and co-exec producer Elena Blekhter. “GLOW” director Anya Adams will direct the first two episodes.
