Director Rose Troche Honored with the 2015 Outfest Fusion Achievement Award

Writer-director-producer Rose Troche was recognized with the 2015 Outfest Achievement Award at an event for the LGBT film festival on Saturday, March 14, at the Egyptian Theater.

Troche’s directorial debut, “Go Fish,” focused on a group of lesbian friends in Chicago, and premiered at the 1994 Sundance Film Festival. The gay filmmaker also co-wrote and co-produced the feature. She went on to direct “Bedrooms and Hallways” (1998) and “The Safety of Objects” (2001).

Troche’s directing credits on the small screen inlcude “Six Feet Under” and “The L Word.” She also wrote for and co-executive produced the latter.

“We are truly thrilled to honor the prolific and groundbreaking Rose Troche with the 2015 Fusion Achievement Award,” said Kirsten Shaffer, Executive Director of Outfest. “Her contribution to storytelling and filmmaking for the past two decades is full of intelligent characters and authentic representations of our community.”

Outfest, a non-profit organization founded by UCLA students, is dedicated to promoting equality by creating and showcasing LGBT stories on the screen.
