Dolly Parton will soon be adding another well-deserved trophy to her mantle. The music legend will receive the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming Country Music Association Awards, the Associated Press reports. Parton is a nine-time CMA winner, including Entertainer of the Year in 1978.
The record-breaking singer-songwriter’s storied career also includes 25 number one hits on the Billboard Country charts, eight Grammy wins, and two Academy Award nominations. Her hits include “I Will Always Love You,” “9 to 5,” “Jolene,” and “Here You Come Again.”
Parton will accept the honor in Nashville on November 2. The awards ceremony will be televised on ABC. According to the AP, the Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes “an artist who has achieved national and international fame through performances, philanthropy, humanitarian efforts, and record sales.” Parton is the first female recipient of the award, which launched in 2012.
CMA CEO Sarah Trahern described Parton as a “trailblazer who continues to enchant and captivate fans around the world.”
Parton’s songs have been featured in many films and TV series, such as “Stranger Things,” “The Meddler,” “The Affair,” “Big Love,” and “Moulin Rouge!” Her acting credits include “9 to 5,” “Rhinestone,” and “Steel Magnolias.”
