Feminist erotic mag Minx will be returning to shelves — the HBO Max comedy of the same name from creator and showrunner Ellen Rapoport has been renewed for a second season, according to a press release.

Set in 1970s Los Angeles, “Minx” follows Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond), an earnest young feminist who joins forces with a low-rent publisher, Doug (Jake Johnson), to create the first erotic magazine for women. Idara Victor (“Shameless”) and Jessica Lowe (“Miracle Workers”) also star.

“Minx” was a recent Women and Hollywood Pick of the Day — in particular, we appreciated the show’s nuance and that it “makes it clear that Doug and the world at large are far more complicated than [Joyce] would like to believe. Despite positioning herself as an expert on feminism, she has a lot to learn about the movement and pretty much everything else.”

Said Rapoport: “All of us at ‘Minx’ have been blown away by the passionate response from audiences across the world, who have mashed-up, TikTok-ed, and fanfic-ed us into a renewal. We are so grateful to our partners at HBO Max and Lionsgate for being true champions of the show, and for the opportunity to continue on this journey. Here’s to more chest hair, pussy bow blouses, and tasteful nudes in Season 2.”

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter podcast “TV’s Top 5”, Rapoport hinted that going forward she would like to explore the 1980s era through the lens of Minx magazine: “The country went through a dramatic shift … and everything became more conservative,” she explained. “These magazines were built on a promise to women that they could have it all and by the ’80s, they were tired and no longer wanted it that way, and the need for the magazines decreased.”

Rapoport wrote the screenplay for Netflix feature film “Desperados,” and was a supervising producer and writer on ABC comedy series “Three Moons Over Milford.”

British actress Lovibond has previously appeared in Apple TV+ series “Trying,” and Mae Martin’s “Feel Good.”
